FAQ
Q: What are your hours of operation?
A: We are always available for you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you need help, call us anytime at 1-800-307-TEAM.
Q: How important is it to dry the structure after a fire?
A: Drying the structure after a fire is extremely important. Even if the interior of a structure is going to be gutted, the water used by the Fire Department will have saturated the framing and flooring. Left wet, the chance of mold growth is very likely. Your insurance policy covers the drying of the structure after a fire so take advantage of it.
Q: How do molds grow in my home?
A: Once mold spores settle in your home, they need moisture to begin digesting whatever they are growing on. There are molds that can grow on wood, ceiling tiles, wallpaper, paint, carpet, sheet rock and insulation. Excess moisture or water build-up from a leaky roof, high humidity or flooding create ideal growing conditions for molds. Realistically, there is no way to rid all mold and mold spores from your home; the way to control mold growth is to control moisture.
Q: How do I know if I have a mold problem?
A: You may have seen white thread-like growths or clusters of small black specks along your damp bathroom or basement walls or smelled a "musty" odor. However, you cannot always rely upon your senses to locate molds. Hidden mold can be growing behind wall coverings or ceiling tiles. Common places to find mold are in areas where water has damaged building materials and furnishings from flooding or plumbing leaks. Mold can also be found growing along walls where warm moist air condenses on cooler wall surfaces, such as inside cold exterior walls, behind dressers, headboards and in closets where articles are stored against walls. Rooms with both high water usage and humidity, such as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and basements are havens for mold. If you notice mold or know of water-damaged areas in your home, it is time to take action to control its growth
Q: Has my heating and air conditioning system been contaminated?
A: The ventilation system is generally cleaned on the first day of work in order to improve air quality and prevent contamination through the duct system. Vents will be covered with filter element as an extra precaution.
Q: How will you clean my walls and wallpaper?
A: There are many types of interior wall surfaces; such as flat, semi-gloss and gloss paint, vinyl-coated and fabric wallpaper, wood paneling, brick and stone to name the most common. We use chemsponges, wall washing and rinsing or a combination of techniques to restore you walls or prepare for paint.
Q: What about my draperies and other window treatments?
A: We have the ability to dry clean your drapes and clean blinds on-site. In some cases they may need to be taken down, dry cleaned, ozoned and rehung.
Q: Why are some areas of my house affected more than others?
A: To summarize the Second Law of Thermodynamics, heat seeks equilibrium. Therefore, smoke is attached to cool areas. This explains why soot may be found in cool places of your home, such as: closets, basement and on the inside of the exterior walls.
Q: Can you clean my upholstery?
A: Yes, we encounter an array of fabrics from Herculon to Chintz, glazed cotton or imported silks. We will determine the cleaning process to be used based upon the type and condition of the fabric. We will dry clean, wet clean, ozone, or use other cleaning procedures to restore the fabric to its pre-loss condition. We hand clean the most delicate fabrics.
Q: Can you clean all the different types of floor surfaces?
A: Yes we can! Your wall to wall carpet and area carpets will be thoroughly cleaned and deodorized. Orientals and other specialty rugs will be individually cleaned and restored based on their fiber type and age. In some instances, Orientals and area carpets may be brought to our warehouse for specialized care. All hard surface floors, including wood, ceramic, vinyl, slate and concrete will be cleaned, restore, and/or finished according to the specifications required.
Q: What about my computer and other electronics?
A: The key to successful electronics restoration is fast response. The sooner the cleaning process begins, the more likely we will be able to restore your equipment. We use a high pressure, low impact steam cleaning system. For example, this process can save computer hardware, CD players and TVs. All equipment is tested to ensure its integrity.
Q: What about smoke-damaged clothes and linens?
A: Damaged clothing and linens require special attention by dry cleaning professionalswho specialize in smoke odor removal. Your clothing and linens will be picked up, cleaned and returned to you. The cleaning process usually includes ozone and deodorization, which should eliminate any residual odors.
Q: Where will you be taking my personal belongings?
A: We clean, box and store your belongings for the duration of the reconstruction and restoration. This system ensures the efficient cleaning, storage and security of your contents. We have an alarm protected, sprinkled warehouse, especially dedicated for this purpose. For your convenience, we will designate 5-10 boxes as necessary. These boxes will be accessible to you.
