Air filtration devices (AFD) - also known as air scrubbers and HEPA units - are needed during restoration work whenever high levels of particulates are being added to the air. AFDs are especially important if there is strong air movement, contaminated water or contaminated structure. AFDs are used whenever drying in a structure with a know contaminant. Special care - including proper cleaning and air filtration - is used when wall cavities and flooring surfaces or sub-surfaces are known to carry a high degree of organic debris, soils, allergens or other undesired particulate.
